This course provides an understanding of the steps involved in building a successful osteopathic practice. It explores effective marketing and management practices including social media and demographic targeting. Daily management, third party insurance billing procedures and ethical guidelines are discussed. As part of the course, students’ prepare a business plan. Laws that apply to Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are examined along with policies, contracts and standard business forms.


Overview

The Medical Imaging course provides an overview of the radiographic modalities most commonly used in modern rehabilitative and diagnostic medicine: X-ray, CT scan and MRI. You will learn the basics of how to read and analyze radiographic images of a wide range  of musculoskeletal conditions that affect the majority of the aging population around the world: Low back pain, joint pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD), types of bone fractures, joint dislocations, spinal stenosis and many others.

This detailed certificate program is designed to improve understanding of the spine as an anatomical and physical structure as well as biomechanics of movement of each spinal segment: cervical, thoracic and lumbar. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to confidently apply what they’ve learned on advising and safely engaging older clients in a clinical and/or fitness class setting.

This program is designed for all skin care professionals interested in expanding their client base. Upon completion of Osteopathy & Facial Esthetics, students will be skilled at osteopathic techniques effective in the improvement of facial muscle tone, reduction of wrinkles and skin tissue rejuvenation. Graduates immediately apply their knowledge and add osteopathic facial treatments to their list of services.


Overview

Nutrition through Life Span examines the biology of food and nutrition principles. Topics covered include a study of the energy producing nutrients, vitamins, minerals, water and fiber, nutritional needs throughout the life cycle, energy balance, and the relationship of diet to health. Throughout the program the relationship between nutrition and personal health is emphasized. Students will develop professional skills in nutritional guidance and wellness promotion.

 

Overview

The program explores the biology of aging and existing theories about the aging process. It examines age-related physical changes as well as the broader psychological and social issues human face as they go through lifespan. Emphasis is placed on an osteopathic approach to the client, assisting older patients in pain reduction, and dysfunctions associated with particular health conditions that afflict this population.
